Stephanie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over thirteen years of experience as a mental health provider. After several amazing work adventures overseas, she followed her family to Nixa, Missouri, where she now happily lives.
Stephanie is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but also claims Kansas City, Missouri, as her home because she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Rockhurst University in 2004 and her Masters of Social Work at the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2006.
I have been fortunate enough to have many wonderful opportunities to work with children and adults in a variety of care settings. I started my career in the United Kingdom where I worked in adoption and foster care. I then came back to the United States and worked in a residential treatment facility providing group and individual therapy. To further expand my knowledge and experience, I returned to Europe. This time, I worked as an individual and couples therapist in Germany for the U.S. military and provided therapy for active duty military and their families. After 5 years in Germany, I decided to return to the States to be closer to family. Most recently, I have worked as a therapist for residents of nursing homes and their families, focusing on end of life, grief, and mourning therapy.
Current Focus and Interests
All of my experiences working with diverse groups of people over the years have taught me that in a difficult and often too stressful world, we all could use a non-judgmental, safe, compassionate and supportive place to work to achieve our goals and process difficult life experiences. That is why I am passionate about helping everyone, including you. Together we will work through your stressors, anxieties, trauma, depression, and grief. Whether you are having difficulty navigating a toxic work environment or a difficult boss, experiencing marriage or relationship problems, or suffering the loss of a loved one or feel a lack of purpose in life, let me support you and teach you ways to work through whatever curveball life has thrown your way. I always tell my clients, “In therapy, I am not the driver of the bus. You are. But, I will help you get where you want to go.” I am confident that we can work together successfully. And, because I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy, I treat every individual uniquely, and I will tailor the session to meet your needs.
It’s not always easy to ask for help. You may feel vulnerable or unsure. But, I am here to help you. I look forward to empowering you to reach your goals and give you hope and support along the way. Thank you for considering me as your therapist.
